Ben Martinez is in his ninth season as an assistant coach on the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball coaching staff. During his time with the Ducks, Martinez has helped the program achieve an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, win the MAC Freedom Tournament and a make a semifinal appearance in the ECAC Metro Tournament.Â
Martinez played basketball at Montclair State University from 1999-2003, serving as the team captain his final two seasons. Martinez led the program to a New Jersey Athletic Conference title in 2003 en route to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament where he earned First Team All-Sectional honors. Martinez can be found among the MSU all-time leaders in assists, steals and three-point field-goals made.

Martinez was all-county and all-conference in high school and was an assistant coach at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School from 2005-2008, helping guide the 07-08 team its first-ever state title. As the head coach in 2008-09, Martinez led the team to an appearance in the state sectional final.

Martinez has also worked at numerous basketball camps throughout the state of New Jersey, including free camps, clinics and events for underprivileged youth.
