Jason Chornyei is entering his fifth season as an Assistant Coach with the men's basketball program.
Chornyei, who joined Stevens after one season at Muhlenberg, has helped Stevens to one NCAA Tournament berth and the MAC Freedom Regular Season Championship in 2024-25.
Prior to joining the staff at Muhlenberg, Chorneyi spent four seasons patrolling the sidelines at his alma mater, Drew University. With the Rangers, Chornyei helped the program win 71 games, including a 23-7 mark in 2018-19 to set a program record for wins in a single-season. Under his tutelage, nine student-athletes earned All-Landmark Conference recognition and six collected season-end awards,.
In addition to his tenure patrolling the sidelines for Drew, Chornyei spent two years as the department’s Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. Among his duties, Chornyei was responsible for the planning and execution of the department’s annual student-athlete alumni event, while also assisting with other initiatives such as Drew Giving Day and the annual golf outing.
Before returning to Drew to enter the collegiate coaching ranks, Chornyei was the Facilities and Operations Graduate Assistant at Indiana State University, helping the Sycamores host three Missouri Valley Conference championships.Â
As an undergraduate, Chornyei was a steady presence in the post for the Rangers, scoring 155 points and pulling down 156 rebounds over 68 career games, while also averaging nearly one block per contest.Â
Chornyei, who originally entered the coaching ranks as a volunteer assistant at Cheshire Academy in 2014, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Drew in 2014. He would go on to earn his master’s degree in sport management from Indiana State in 2016.Â
