Head coach Gene Peluso has announced the hiring of Andrew Nicol to the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse staff for the upcoming 2018 season.
Nicol arrives in Hoboken after a one-year stint at his alma mater, Vassar College, where the Poughkeepsie, New York native served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach and Director of Alumni Relations. During his tenure with the Brewers, the men’s lacrosse program achieved its first top-20 appearance and made the Liberty League playoffs for the first time in program history. Vassar’s coaching staff was named the 2017 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to his stint in Poughkeepsie, Nicol was the Director of Operations for Richmond University, where he was responsible for budget and travel and film management.
As a player, Nicol was a four-year starter for Vassar, serving as a team captain for three seasons. Nicol ranks among Vassar’s all-time leaders in saves (2nd - 649), save percentage (6th - 0.542) and goals against average (6th - 11.53). He was the 2013 Vassar College Betty Richey Award Winner for VC Male Student-Athlete of the Year and received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in May 2013.
