Former University of Maryland standout defenseman Frank Luciano joined the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 2006. Luciano, who has served as the Director of Marketing and Events for Lax.com since 2003, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Ducks.
From 1996-99, Luciano was a star defenseman at Mountain Lakes High School. After being named an all-county honorable mention in 1998, he earned all-county, all-state and All-America honors in 1999. He was also the Defenseman of the Year for the State of New Jersey as a senior.
While in college, Luciano was a four-year letter-winner for the Terrapins and a key member of the nation’s top defense in 2002. As a senior in 2003, he helped lead Maryland to the national semifinals and also received the team’s Man Down Award.
Luciano has played professionally for Major League Lacrosse since joining the New Jersey Pride in 2004. He became a member of the Baltimore Bayhawks in 2006. Luciano is also currently on the training camp roster for the expansion New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League.
In addition to his extensive playing career, Luciano worked as a volunteer coach with the Mountain Lakes varsity team in 2003. Then, in 2005, he was the head defensive coach at Don Bosco Prep, where he helped lead the Ironmen to a 13-5 record and the program’s first-ever conference championship.
Luciano has worked for Lax Shop, LLC – which is recognized as the world leader in online lacrosse sales – since 2000. He currently resides in Hoboken, N.J.
