Head coach Gene Peluso announced the addition of Ivan Cohen to the men's lacrosse coaching staff prior to the 2020 season.
Cohen has taught the game of lacrosse to players of all ages and levels of experience for 40 years. Cohen, who works primarily with the Ducks' defensive unit and goalies, has spent time as a coach at the high school level and at the international level.
Most recently, Cohen has served as an assistant on the Kenyan national team, his third stint at the national level, after spending three years with the German national team and one year with the Ugandan national team. Cohen also spent seven seasons at Westfield High School and he was recognized as the Group 4 Man of the Year in 2014.
As a player, Ivan attended Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, where he spent three seasons in the cage, culminating with a Division II national championship in 1979. Prior to playing at Adelphi, Cohen played high school lacrosse at East Meadow High School. He was fortunate to play for legendary coaches; Jack Kaley, Paul “Doc” Doherty, and Kevin Sheehan, all of whom inspired him to continue to give back to the game.
Cohen currently resides in Westfield, New Jersey, with his wife Alice Fertig. They have 4 children and one grandson.
