Dan Buehring is the second head coach in the history of Stevens men’s volleyball after accepting the position in January of 2021.

In just his third season at the helm, Buehring led Stevens to their second national championship in program history, as they defeated North Central (Ill.) 3-1. Along the way, the team posted a 35-3 record and won the MAC Championship, earning them an automatic berth to the tournament. The 35 wins are the most in a season in franchise history. Buehring was named AVCA East Region Coach of the Year, as well as the MAC Coach of the Year.

After a 10-4 first season, Beuhring led the Ducks to a 30-4 record and a berth to the NCAA Championship in just his first full season at Stevens. The team won the MAC Championship and were one of the last four teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament.

Buehring comes to Stevens after a seven-year stint as the head coach at Benedictine University. He started the Eagles’ men’s volleyball program in 2014 and built it from the ground up, amassing an 89-47 overall record in his time there. Buehring was named the NACC Coach of the Year in 2018 after leading Benedictine to a share of the regular season conference title.

Over his final three seasons at Benedictine, Buehring led the Eagles to a 55-14 overall record. Additionally, the program found itself inside the top-10 of the AVCA Poll in 28 of the 38 total polls from 2018-2020, including a program-best No. 3 overall ranking in 2019.

Prior to working at Benedictine, Buehring served as the Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach for both Loyola University Chicago and University of Illinois Chicago.

As a collegiate, Buehring played for the men’s volleyball program at California Baptist University and helped the Lancers win the 2006 and 2007 NAIA National Titles. He also competed on the AVP tour from 2010-18 and ranked inside the top-50 on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour for four straight seasons.
