Jean Farid

Jean (Matusiak) Faird returns for her fourth season as an assistant coach at her alma mater, where she enjoyed a decorated career in Hoboken from 2004-2008.

Farid helped the 2012-13 squad post its 14th straight .500+ record and qualify for the ECAC Metro Championship following an ECAC semifinal appearance in 2011-12 and an NCAA Championship appearance, Empire 8 Championship title and 21-win season in 2010-11.

As a player, the former Stevens captain led her teams to ECAC Championship appearances all four years and three straight 20-win seasons, including a program-record 24-6 mark (15-1 in conference) in her senior season that culminated in the program’s first-ever ECAC Metro Championship.  She still ranks highly in multiple categories all-time at Stevens, including second in assists (418), third in assists per game (3.63), tied-third in games played (115) and fifth in steals (208) and made free throws (228).

The Queens, N.Y. native was an Honorable Mention All-Skyline Conference selection in 2006-07, named to the Empire 8 President’s List and named the league’s Sportswoman of the Year in 2007-08.
