HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior Kari Munger (Morristown, N.J./Newark Academy) and senior Aracely Cruz (Union City, N.J./Union Hill) earned singles victories, but the Stevens women’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Richard Stockton College on Wednesday.
Munger earned a 7-5, 6-1 win over Victoria Rosenfield at first singles. The victory was Munger’s 11th straight in dual match singles play this season. She is 25-0 in dual match play her two-year Stevens career.
Cruz dropped the opening set at second singles against Michelle Lilley. She came back to win the second set and force a pro-set tiebreaker, winning the match 5-7, 6-4, (11-9).
Stockon improved to 9-1 by winning all three doubles match and four singles matches. Andrea Lilley, Kristin Tukel, Kate Ciocciola and Kelly Chin all won in straight sets in singles play.
Stevens is back in action on Saturday, September 18, with a noon Skyline Conference match at Manhattanville College.
