Fredericksburg, Va. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team closed out competition at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday.

The Ducks had three doubles pairings (Lorena Piegas/Alix Dry, Jasmine Wen/Kaylee Hobbick and Eva Karmazin/Kaylin Chan) along with four individuals in action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hobbick and Wen faced Ellie Smith and Lindsay Paullin of Gettysburg in the opening round. The Stevens duo came away with an 8-6 triumph to advance to the Round of 32. In their second match, they were knocked off by the fifth-seeded pairing of Isabel He and Sahana Madala of Johns Hopkins, 8-2.

After receiving a bye into the Round of 32, Dry and Piegas squared off with second-seeded Ava Li and Sydney Langer of Johns Hopkins and were clipped 8-6. The first-year tandem of Chan and Karmazin, competing in their first ITA Regional, were topped 8-4 by Jacey Copeland and Sarah Sandoval Banuelos of Mary Washington.

Competing in the Blue 2 group, Karmazin took down Mikayla Smith of Randolph College 6-1, 6-1. In the consolation round of the Championship group, Dry battled Lily Ganjbaksh of Saint Mary's and notched an opening-round victory, winning 8-7 (7-4). On the opposite side of the bracket, Hobbick tallied an 8-4 victory over Sofia Sperandei of Washington College. Wen also competed, falling 8-5 to Mallika Reddy of Haverford.
