NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team captured the top two singles spots, but fell to SUNY-New Paltz, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Stevens junior Kari Munger (Morristown, N.J./Newark Academy) extended her winning streak to 19 straight matches, earning a 7-5, 6-1 win over Kerry Farrell at first singles. Munger is 3-0 this season and 19-0 in her Stevens career. All of her wins have been straight-sets victories.
Senior Aracely Cruz (Union City, N.J./Union Hill) rallied for a 4-6, 7-5 (10-5) win over Sara Goldstein at second singles. Cruz trailed 4-1 in the second set but rallied to force the pro-set tie-breaker which she won 10-5.
