POMONA, N.J.—Senior Kari Munger (Morristown, N.J./Newark Academy) and freshmen Dana Bacalla (Portland, Ore./Westview) remained undefeated at first and second singles, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Richard Stockton on Wednesday afternoon.
With the loss Stevens falls to 3-4, while Stockton improves to 9-1.
After losing her first set 2-6, Munger rallied to defeat Kristen Turkel 6-4, 6-3 in first singles. Bacalla stayed unbeaten at second singles and defeated Victoria Rosenfield 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Jackie Carbone (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) also picked up a win for the Ducks at fifth singles after her match was retired 6-3, 3-1.
The Ducks were defeated in all three doubles matches with Bacalla and Carbone picking up their first loss of the season at second doubles.
The Stevens women’s tennis team is back in action, Saturday, October 16, when it hosts Manhattanville in its second Skyline match up beginning at 1 p.m.
