STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The College of Staten Island snapped a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning en route to a 9-4 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday night in a non-conference game at the CSI Baseball Complex.

Stevens (13-10) trailed 2-0, but tied the game in the top of the third inning on a two-out, two-run single to left field by junior Mike Carrano (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington).

The game remained tied until Staten Island catcher Rich Castaldo hit a two-run home run with two out in the bottom of the fifth.  Castaldo also added a two run single in the Dolphins' four-run seventh inning.

Stevens had numerous scoring opportunities as it left 13 men on base, but the Ducks didn't score again until freshman right fielder Jim Waterman (South Harrison, N.J./Paul VI) drove in two runs with a double to left in the top of the eighth inning.

Stevens is back in action on Friday, April 9, when it hosts St. Joseph's-Patchogue in a Skyline Conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
