Women's Volleyball cruises past Mount Saint Mary, 3-0; Ducks move to 3-0 in Skyline play

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior outside hitter Margeritte Abdelkodoos (North Arlington, N.J.) 11 kills and 10 digs to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 3-0 (30-15, 30-15, 30-22) win over Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday in a Skyline Conference women’s volleyball match at the Canavan Arena.

Stevens, which earned its fourth straight win, improves to 12-1 and 3-0 in Skyline Conference play.  Mount Saint Mary falls to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Stevens trailed 11-10 in the first game, but ran off 12 straight points on the serving of junior setter Gina Joyce (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake) to take command in the opening game.

Freshman outside hitter Dawn Herring (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) contributed 10 kills and two service aces for Stevens.  Joyce added 23 assists and 10 digs.

Mount Saint Mary was paced by senior outside hitter Kristie Murphy who had seven kills and eight digs.  Senior Melissa Anghelone led the Blue Knights with 16 digs.  Junior setter Kelleigh King had 13 assists.

Stevens returns to action on Saturday, September 25, when it participates in a tri-match at Centenary College along with New Jersey City University.
