KINGS POINT, NY – Sophomore Dawn Herring (Prince Frederick, MD) registered 12 kills, eight digs and one block to lead The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 shutout over conference rival, Kings Point, Wednesday night. The Ducks won the first game, 30-19, the second game, 30-12, and the third game, 30-14. With the win, Stevens improves to 19-5 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while Kings Point drops to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
Freshman Melanie Volk (Thompson Station, YN) totaled 11 kills, four digs and three blocks, while freshman Jess Gardner (Penfield, NY) added five kills and three blocks. Freshman Summer Hamilton (San Diego, CA) was a force around the net with four blocks to go along with two kills. Junior Rachel Ostroff (N. Miami, FL) added 11 digs and senior setter Gina Joyce (Fort Myers, FL) registered 33 assists, eight digs and two kills for the Ducks.
Stevens returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, when it hosts the Stevens Invitational. The Ducks will open up play against Lehman at 10 a.m. They will face CCNY at 1 p.m. and NYCCT at 3 p.m.
