NEW YORK, N.Y.– Freshmen Michael Detsis (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and Brandon MacWhinnie (Barton, N.Y./Tioga Central) earned two wins apiece at 141 and 157 respectively but the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team dropped a 36-11 decision to NYU and a 39-9 decision to Ursinus.
Detsis improved to 17-0 in dual matches with an 11-4 win by decision over Gene Kobilansky of NYU and an 11-5 win over Sean Donahoe of Ursinus. MacWhinnie earned a win by technical fall, 17-2, over Joe Esposito of NYU and a win by fall over Jeff Scholth of Ursinus. Freshman Ryan Bennick (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Senior) earned a 9-2 win over NYU’s Ryan Cooley.
The Ducks return to action on Saturday, February 19 when they travel to compete in the Centennial Conference Championship at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa.
