NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior Andrea Chimel (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) and sophomore Colleen Kirk (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock) each went 3-0 as the Stevens women's fencing team improved to 10-7 with a 20-7 victory over Hunter on Friday night.
The Stevens epee and foil squads each went 7-2 while the sabre squad was 6-3.
In addition to Chimel's three epee victories, sophomore Soo Jung Han (Norwood, N.J./Old Tappan) and freshman Emily Freier (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) went 2-0 and 2-1 respectively.
Kirk led the foil squad with three victories. Senior Elena Gorobtsova (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) recorded a 2-1 foil record.
In the sabre, freshmen Beatrice Wilson (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and Laura Sodon (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) each went 2-1. Sophomore Nicole Moldovan (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) won both of her sabre bouts.
Stevens is back in action on Sunday, February 20, when it hosts the Stevens Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. in Walker Gymnasium.
