MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore Boris Kocherov (Edison, N.J./Edison) earned a 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 win over Yiannis Iannedis at fifth singles to help the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team earn a  5-2 win over FDU-Florham on Sunday afternoon.  With the win Stevens improves to 7-5, while FDU-Florham drops to 5-4.

Junior Steve Su (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) and freshman Ricky Bawa (North Bergen, N.J./Dwight-Englewood) earned the Ducks' only doubles victory, defeating Arkady Smolyansky and John Zalesky 8-1.

Su defeated Frank Geiger at first singles, 6-3, 6-4.  At second singles Bawa secured a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Smalyensky.  Sophomore Diego Quintana (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) played at third singles and dropped the opening set to Zalesky 6-7, but came back to win the next set 6-0, 2-0 before the match was retired.  Sophomore Ian Mullican (Gillette, N.J./Oratory Prep) finished the day with a win at sixth singles over Sid Dunn 6-7 (9-7), 6-3 (10-5).

Stevens is back in action on Wednesday, April 13, when it hosts Mount Saint Mary at 4 p.m.
