Box Score Swarthmore, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team earned four victories against Vassar College on Sunday as part of the second day of the Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational.
 
The Ducks picked up two victories in doubles action before Pratik Nayak and Tristan Wroe each earned singles wins. Sunday's competition wrapped up Stevens' opening weekend of the fall season. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens opened doubles play with Jamie Ortiz and Samvid Andhare battling Vassar's Lee and Santos. The Vassar tandem earned a 6-4 victory, but the Ducks responded by taking each of the next two doubles contests. Wroe and Renat Kramin edged Jia and Martin 7-5, while Christopher Cho and Nayak turned in a 6-2 victory over Rajkumar and Choudhary to give Stevens two wins in three doubles matches.
 
Vassar opened singles play with three consecutive victories. Lee topped Ortiz 6-1, 6-0, before Kramin battled Choudhary in a tight opening set. Kramin forced a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Cho also put together a competitive performance against Jia, but was edged 7-5 in the opening set before dropping the second 6-3. Nayak registered the Ducks' first singles victory of the day with a straight-set win over Santos. The first-year won a tightly contested opening-set tiebreaker 7-3 before completing the victory with a 6-3 decision in the second. Wroe followed with Stevens' second singles victory. After taking the opening set against Martin 6-2, Wroe dropped the second 6-4 before prevailing 10-5 in the deciding match tiebreaker. Vassar closed the day with victories in the final two singles contests. Zeng defeated Elias Alkio 6-2, 6-2, while Feng topped Johnny Haase 8-4.
