WESTMINSTER Md. (January 21, 2006) - The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team had three wrestlers finish the day undefeated in a tri-meet with Centennial Conference competitors McDaniel College and Washington & Lee University on Saturday afternoon.  However, the Ducks dropped close matches to Washington & Lee, 28-20, and McDaniel, 25-19.  Stevens moves to 5-6-2 overall and 0-2 in the league. 

Against Washington & Lee, senior Ian Gorham (Old Bridge, N.J.) picked up the Ducks first win of the day by fall over Tom Hosford.  Freshman Charles Favia (Brick, N.J.) and sophomores Ryan Bennick (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) and Brandon MacWhinnie (Barton, N.Y.) each turned in wins at 149, 157 and 165 pounds respectively. 

In a close match with No. 27 ranked McDaniel, Stevens held the advantage after winning five of the first six matches.  Gorham won by a 3-2 decision over Steve Colasuonno.  Freshman Pat Conrad (Enola, Pa.) picked up a win at 141 pounds by forfeit.  Favia, Bennick and MacWhinnie turned in victories by decision in their respected weight classes to finish the day 2-0.  However, the Ducks dropped the next four matches of the day.

Stevens is back in action on Saturday, January 28 when it hosts U.S.Merchant Marine, Muhlenberg and Ursinus. The quad meet will begin at 10 a.m.
