Katelyn Stewart's first career goal helped lead Stevens to a 3-0 win over Centenary in the regular-season finale for the Ducks.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 28, 2006) – Junior forward/back Sara Roeder (Portland, Ore.), sophomore back Salme Cook (Fairfax, Va.) and freshman back Katelyn Stewart (Manchester, N.H.) scored one goal apiece as the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Centenary College on Saturday in Hoboken, N.J.  With the win, the Ducks ran their unbeaten streak to 13 games (12-0-1), and they also improved to 13-2-3 on the year.

Roeder staked the Ducks (7-0 Skyline) to a 1-0 lead with her team-leading 11th goal of the year on a nice give-an-go with senior midfielder/forward Megan Legendre (O’Fallon, Ill.) in the 26th minute.  After receiving the return pass from Legendre at the top left corner of the 18-yard box, Roeder ripped a low hard shot to the right side netting.

Five minutes into the second half, sophomore forward Alison Amos (Plano, Texas) sent a pass into the box off a corner kick.  Cook was able to head the bouncing ball to the back of the net to give Stevens a 2-0 lead.

In the 72nd minute, Stewart chipped a shot from 20 yards out on the left wing that sailed over the head of Cyclones’ junior goalkeeper Coree Reuter (La Centre, Wash.).  Junior forwards Nicole Migliore (Stratford, N.J.) and Gina Crifasi (Staten Island, N.Y.) assisted on the play.

Making her final regular-season start, senior goalkeeper Erica Midttveit (Jackson, N.J.) earned her 37th career shutout as she made one save in net for the Ducks.  Reuter had eight stops for the Cyclones (5-13-1, 3-3-1 Skyline).

Stevens out-shot Centenary 24-5 in the game.  The Ducks also owned an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Coming up on Wednesday, Stevens will host Farmingdale State University (9-6-2, 4-3) in the semifinals of the Skyline Conference tournament.  Opening kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. at the De Baun Athletic Complex.  Earlier this season, the Ducks posted a 2-0 win at Farmingdale on September 23.

In seven conference matches this year, Stevens did not surrender a single goal and out-scored its opposition 33-0.  In the process, the Ducks became the first team in program history to go through an entire regular season without giving up a goal to a Skyline team.
