HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 9, 2006) – After winning only one doubles match, the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team earned five out of six singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory over FDU-Florham on Sunday afternoon. The win, which marks the sixth straight for the Ducks, improves Stevens to 8-5 overall this season.
In doubles action, senior Steve Su (Holmdel, N.J.) and sophomore Ricky Bawa (Lyndhurst, N.J.) earned the only doubles win with an 8-1 defeat over senior Adam Geiger (Mountainside, N.J.) and junior Yiannis Iannedis (Cyprus).
In singles action, Su earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at first singles. Bawa earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory at second singles and junior Boris Kocherov (Edison, N.J.) pulled out a 7-5, 6-2 win at third singles. Freshman Kobe Attias (Brick, N.J.) picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win in the fourth singles position. Senior Yuriy Stelmakh (Clifton, N.J.) won 6-4, 7-5 at fifth singles.
The Ducks are back in action on Tuesday, April 11 when they travel to Newburgh, N.Y. to face Mount Saint Mary College in Skyline action at 6:30 p.m.
