PITTSFORD, N.Y. (October 21, 2007) – Senior forward Mike Kaiser tallied the game-winning goal with less than 11 minutes remaining in the second half on Sunday afternoon at Growney Stadium as the No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team registered a 3-2 decision over St. John Fisher College in Empire 8 action. With the win, the Ducks have won their last three games and improved to 14-1-2 on the season with a 6-0 record in conference play. As for the Cardinals, they fell to 9-5-1 overall with a 3-2-1 mark in league battle.

Stevens, which held a 13-12 shot advantage in the match, opened up the scoring in the 34th-minute when sophomore forward Todd Sheridan dribbled a ball past a defender and kicked a ball into the low part of the goal. Then, in the 70th-minute, Kaiser headed a shot past the diving St. John Fisher sophomore goaltender Adam Durst (Rochester, N.Y.) off a free kick by junior midfielder Peter Montalvo.

Five minutes later, Cardinals' sophomore forward Luke Lennox (Rochester, N.Y.) was awarded with a penalty shot, which he struck into the net to cut the Ducks' lead to one. Shortly thereafter, St. John Fisher tied the game up at 2-2 when freshman midfielder Eric Friedman (Syracuse, N.Y.) headed in a free kick by junior defender Brad Ervin (Elmira, N.Y.). But, in the 80th-minute, Kaiser punched a Sheridan pass into the goal to give Stevens the lead for good.

Durst stopped three shots for the Cardinals while freshman goalkeeper Zach Carr made a game-high four saves for the Ducks. Both teams collected three corner kicks in the contest.
