Hoboken, N.J. – Recent Stevens Institute of Technology graduates Ethan Hagen (men's soccer) and Lauren Sullivan (women's lacrosse) were named the Region IV Athletes of the Year by the Division III Commissioners Association (D3CA) on Wednesday.

Hagen and Sullivan will advance to the national round, where they will compete against a pool of student-athletes from 10 other regions. The national award recipients will be announced later this fall.
An Academic All-American and United Soccer Coaches Scholar Athlete, Hagen added the accolade to an impressive postseason résumé that already included United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region honors, MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year recognition and First Team All-MAC Freedom accolades.

For the third straight season, Hagen was one of the most consistent presences on the pitch for the Ducks, starting at least 18 matches and surpassing 1,500 minutes played. Since the start of the 2023 season, he has appeared in 57 matches, starting each one, and logged 4,959 minutes for an average of 87.5 minutes per appearance.

During the 2025 campaign, Hagen played all 90 minutes in 10 matches and helped limit opponents to one goal or fewer on 12 occasions. He also enjoyed a breakout offensive season, scoring his first collegiate goal in a victory over NYU before adding another goal and two assists in conference play. Following shutout victories over Misericordia and Lebanon Valley in the MAC Freedom Tournament, Hagen was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He capped his season by recording an assist against Brandeis in the NCAA Tournament.

Sullivan became the second consecutive Stevens women's lacrosse student-athlete to be named the IWLCA Division III Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and graduated as the valedictorian of her class. Her exceptional academic career earned her numerous prestigious honors, including College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition, MAC Women's Lacrosse Senior Scholar-Athlete honors and the Stevens Athletics Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award, which is presented to the male and female student-athletes with the highest cumulative GPA after at least three years of varsity competition. Sullivan was also consistently recognized on the Dean's List, MAC Academic Honor Roll, Academic All-MAC Team and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll throughout her collegiate career.

Sullivan's excellence extended to the field. During her senior season, she earned Second Team All-America honors from USA Lacrosse and the IWLCA, IWLCA First Team All-Region recognition, MAC Freedom Defender of the Year honors and First Team All-MAC Freedom accolades. A two-year team captain and four-time MAC Freedom Defender of the Year, Sullivan concluded her career as one of the most decorated student-athletes in program history. The Bridgewater, N.J., native anchored a defensive unit that allowed just 6.62 goals per game during her senior season, the 17th-best mark in Division III, while averaging nearly two ground balls, more than one caused turnover and nearly four draw controls per contest.
