Women’s Fencing Drops Four Matches at Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 4, 2007) – Following six victories over the last two weeks, the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s fencing team struggled on Sunday as the Ducks suffered four losses at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.  Following losses to Fairleigh Dickinson University (14-13), Rutgers University (17-10), Johns Hopkins University (22-5) and Temple (23-4), Stevens fell to 7-6 on the year.

Senior Maia Hadidi (Lakewood, N.J.) was the top performer for the Ducks as she finished the day with a 6-6 mark in the sabre.  Against Fairleigh Dickinson, the Stevens sabre squad earned a 7-2 victory.  The foil team was victorious by a 6-3 margin versus Rutgers.

Coming up on February 11, Stevens will compete in the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Dual Meet Championship at Hunter College in New York, N.Y.  The Ducks will face Haverford College, Drew University, City College of New York, Yeshiva University and Hunter.  The competition is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
