ORLANDO, Fla. (March 15, 2007) – On Thursday, the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to Colby-Sawyer College in Orlando, Fla. The loss dropped the Ducks to 3-5 on the year. Stevens won two of six singles matches and also claimed a victory at No. 1 doubles against the Chargers (3-2).
In doubles, junior Ricky Bawa (Lyndhurst, N.J.) and freshman Piotr Rusinkiewicz (Califon, N.J.) rolled to an 8-2 win over junior Brendan O’Neill (South Kingston, R.I.) and Ben Taylor. Bawa totaled an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory over freshman Ben Dabush (Weston, Conn.) at No. 1 singles. Rusinkiewicz added a 6-0, 6-3 win against senior Dan Munsey (Arlington, Mass.) at third singles.
Senior Boris Kocherov (Edison, N.J.) dropped a narrow 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 decision to O’Neill at second singles. Sophomore Kobe Attias (Brick, N.J.) lost in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) to sophomore Evan Campbell (White River Junction, Vt.) at No. 6 singles.
Stevens will close out its trip to Florida with a match against Connecticut College on Friday at noon.
