ITHACA, N.Y. (September 22, 2007) – Junior forward Chelsea Feldman (Hewlett, N.Y.) scored three goals in the span of 6:51 during the second half in leading Ithaca College over the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team by the score of 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Carp Wood Field in Ithaca, N.Y. The loss snapped a 50-game unbeaten streak against league opponents for the Ducks (5-2-1, 1-1 Empire 8). The Bombers extended their regular-season unbeaten string against Empire 8 foes to 27 consecutive matches.
Senior midfielder/forward Colleen Masterson (Trumansburg, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Ithaca (6-1, 3-0) in the 20th minute. The Bombers carried the 1-0 lead into the half. With just under 36 minutes remaining in the game, Feldman scored her first goal of the contest. A little over a minute later, she found the back of the net on a header to extend the margin to 3-0. Feldman capped the scoring for Ithaca with 60:56 elapsed in the game on her second header of the contest.
Junior back Salme Cook got the Ducks on the board in the 78th minute when she tallied her first goal of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Sherri Rosenberg took the loss as she allowed all four goals while making five saves. Senior goalkeeper Aimee Meacham (Massena, N.Y.) earned the victory in net for Ithaca.
For the game, the Bombers out-shot the Ducks 18-8. Ithaca also had seven corner kicks to just one by Stevens.
Coming up on Wednesday, the Ducks will be back in action when they take on Vassar College at 4 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
