ONEONTA, N.Y. (September 8, 2007) – Senior forward Mike Kaiser, sophomore forward Terrance Johnson and freshman defenseman Michael Quijano each tallied a goal Saturday afternoon at the Red Dragon Soccer Field as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated SUNY Oneonta, 3-0, in Day One of the 2007 Mayor's Cup.
The Ducks (3-0) reached the scoreboard first in the 28th-minute when Kaiser received a pass from Quijano and then turned and put a ball past Red Dragons (1-2) sophomore keeper Jonathan Korn (Dix Hills, N.Y.), who pushed five shots aside on the afternoon.
In the 84th-minute, Johnson gave Stevens a 2-0 advantage when he slid a shot under the legs of Korn on a breakaway. Five minutes later, Quijano recorded his first collegiate goal on an unassisted effort.
Freshman goalkeeper Zach Carr made one save for the Ducks, who held a 16-7 shot advantage in the contest.
Head Coach Tim O'Donohue and his squad return to action tomorrow when they face Manhattanville College in the final day of the 2007 Mayor's Cup. The opening kick-off is slated for 1:30 p.m.
