HOBOKEN, N.J. (August 31, 2008) – Senior Jeremy Lippel, senior Harry Papademas, and rookie Mykel Pereira all scored twice as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team mauled Fairleigh Dickinson University – Florham 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Stevens College Cup at the De Baun Athletic Complex. The Ducks captured the tournament title by virtue of a goal differential tie-break over The College of New Jersey.

Stevens completely dominated the action from start to finish as the Ducks held FDU without a single shot for the entire 90 minutes. They out-shot the Devils 36-0 and out-cornered them 9-1.

It took a while for Stevens to get on the board as they squandered several early scoring chances, but Lippel got things started when he drilled a shot into the top left corner of the net after a touch pass from Craig Moquin in the 19th minute. One minute and 24 seconds later, Lippel struck again. This time, junior Terrence Johnson made a great, no-look back-tap to Lippel and the senior put it away for his second score of the day.

In the 26th minute, tri-captain Todd Sheridan scored his first goal of the season when he put in a Nolan Sandberg rebound. That tally put the Ducks up 3-0 and made it clear that FDU was in some trouble.

Stevens added two more goals before the break as Pereira and fellow rookie Zach Bowman each notched their first career goals.

Zach Carr got the win in net. The sophomore played the first 45 minutes before being replaced by freshman Ethan Graham. Neither keeper made a save or even saw a shot.

Three minutes and 18 seconds into the second half, Pereira scored his second goal of the game to put Stevens up 6-0, and freshman Peter Bednarsky scored an unassisted goal to put the Ducks up 7-0. Like Pereira and Bowman, Bednarsky's score was the first of his career.

Papademas' goals were both assisted by senior Erick Muse and they capped the scoring.

Kevin Herber (Whippany, N.J.) started in goal for FDU. He played very well for 61-plus minutes despite allowing seven goals.

The Ducks are now unbeaten in 61-straight home games and sit at 2-0 heading into the 2008 Scarlet Raiders Men's Soccer Classic in Newark, N.J. next weekend. Stevens is scheduled to take on Medgar Evers College next Saturday at noon and SUNY New Paltz on Sunday at noon.

TCNJ 3, No. 8 Redlands 1

The College of New Jersey also went 2-0 in the Stevens College Cup as the Lions defeated No. 8 University of Redlands by a 3-1 final in Sunday's first game. Kevin Luber (Delran, N.J.) scored a goal and had a strong game, and Phil Cunha (Milford, N.J.) notched a goal and an assist.

Though Stevens and TCNJ both went 2-0 in the tournament, the Ducks outscored their opponents by 10. The Lions outscored their opponents by five.

The two teams will meet at the De Baun Athletic Complex on September 10.
