PURCHASE, N.Y. (September 20, 2008) – Junior Terrence Johnson scored in the 17th- minute thanks to an assist from Al Lockhart as the No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated host Manhattanville College by a score of 1-0 on Saturday night in Purchase, N.Y. The win moves Stevens to 7-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 on the road.

Johnson's goal came off a header that he was able to get over the top of Manhattanville keeper Jerry Tellier (West Warwick, R.I.). It was his team-high sixth goal of the season, and the play began on a corner.

In the 70th-minute, Stevens looked to extend their advantage over Manhattanville when Johnson had a wide-open chip shot on Tellier's net, but the senior goalkeeper dove, extended his right hand and made the save.

“I was really pleased with the way we played,” Head Coach Tim O'Donohue said following the game. “That's a very strong team and the way we controlled possession and field position was very encouraging. It was undoubtedly one of the best games we have played this season.”

Manhattanville (3-3-1) did hold a 7-5 advantage in shots as the Valiants out-shot the Ducks 4-1 in the second half. Stevens held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
