ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 10, 2009) – Despite sophomore Kaitlin McClymont's first collegiate goal in the 38th minute, that staked the Ducks to an early 1-0 lead, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell to host Rochester Institute of Technology, 2-1, at RIT Field in Rochester, N.Y. The Tigers got goals from seniors Allyson Pisher (Holley, N.Y.) and Shireen Irani (Calgary, Alberta) to seal the come-from-behind victory and move to 4-4-3 on the season and 1-3-0 in the Empire 8, while the Ducks fall to 3-9-0 on the year with a 2-2-0 league ledger.

Despite being outshot, 9-3, in the first half, the Ducks were able to generate several scoring chances, including the match's first shot on goal off the foot of Stevens' sophomore forward Kathleen Schuckers. With RIT continuing to apply pressure throughout the half, Ducks freshman goalkeeper Teegan Kelly made three consecutive saves within a five-minute span to preserve the scoreless tie before McClymont opened up scoring at 37:36, beating sophomore netminder Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) to a loose ball for her first collegiate goal.

Stevens would maintain the lead into the second half before Pisher scored her second goal of the year, netting the equalizer in the 51st minute, off assists by Ashley Pezze (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Kim Sisti (Horseheads, N.Y.). Hoping to regain the advantage, the Ducks would push forward, recording the match's next three shots, but it was RIT that would pull ahead on Irani's unassisted tally at 73:20.

Freshman Gia Gonzales would fire two more of her team-high five shots down the stretch in an attempt to knot the game, but could not find the back of the Tiger net as time wound down. RIT finished with an 18-8 shot advantage and a 5-1 edge in corner-kicks. Kelly made nine saves in the loss.

Stevens is back in action on October 11 at St. John Fisher College. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
