Men's Soccer Improves to 8-2-0 with 2-0 Shutout of Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. (October 3, 2009) – Senior Chris Faustino scored at the six minute mark as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team improved to 8-2-0 with a 2-0 conference win over Alfred University at Merrill Field on Saturday afternoon. Senior Terrence Johnson put the game away midway through the second half with his fifth tally of the season. Stevens dominated the contest from start to finish, outshooting the Saxons (5-4-0 overall, 0-2 Empire 8) 14-3.

Junior goalkeeper Zach Carr earned the shutout in goal for Stevens but did not have to make a single save. It was his sixth shutout of the season and he lowered his goals-against average to 0.40 for the season.

Stevens controlled possession and field position throughout, ending the game with a 12-0 advantage in corners. Stevens outshot the Saxons 6-2 in the first half and 8-1 in the second, and Carr was never tested.
