EWING, N.J. (September 16, 2009) – Senior Josh Williams scored with nine seconds to play in regulation to force overtime and freshman Zach Adler converted a penalty kick 1:29 into the overtime period as the No. 10 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team came back to defeat The College of New Jersey, 2-1 in thrilling fashion on Tuesday night at Lions' Stadium in Ewing, N.J. The win moves the Ducks to 5-1 on the season and drops the Lions to 2-2-2.

Kevin Luber (Delran, N.J.) gave the Lions a 1-0 lead in the first half when he blasted a shot from 25 yards out at the 8:19 mark. It was the first goal of the season for Luber, who led TCNJ in scoring a year ago. The Lions and Ducks played an even first half, with TCNJ owning a commanding lead in shots at 9-3 and Stevens holding a solid 6-2 edge in corners. With a 1-0 lead going into the break, the Lions had the momentum, but in the second, Stevens came out hungry and started to grab it away, slowly but surely.

Stevens created several strong chances on corners throughout the second half and put five shots on goal after zero in the first 45 minutes.

With less than 30 seconds to play in regulation, Stevens brought the ball down the left sideline and sent a ground pass in front of the goal. The ball was deflected and skipped past Goldwaser where Williams was in position off the far post to knock home the loose ball. It was Williams' first goal of the year and fourth of his career.

In overtime, Stevens forward Victor Daza received a perfect through-ball and went one-on-one with TCNJ goalkeeper Eric Goldwaser (Wyckoff, N.J.). The Lions' keeper took Daza down and the Ducks were awarded a penalty kick at the 8:31 mark of the first overtime. Adler rifled home the free kick for his team-high fourth goal of the season and second game-winner.

The Ducks' defense held TCNJ to one shot in the second half as the two teams ended with 10 shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Zach Carr earned the win in net, making three saves. Goldwaser made five saves in the loss, and Stevens ended with a 9-2 edge in corners.

Stevens returns to the pitch on Saturday afternoon when the Ducks visit an excellent York College (Pa.) team. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
