Hoboken, N.J. – A day after being named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region selection, senior
Ethan Hagen of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team was tabbed a Second Team Scholar All-American.
Hagen, who carries a 3.91 GPA as a mechanical engineering major, becomes the program's first Scholar All-American since the trio of Bruno Andino, Justin Cross, and Fritz Kabeiseman earned the honor in 2023. He was also named an Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators, becoming the 12th selection in program history and the first since Andino, Cross, and Kabeiseman in 2023.
The Union, N.J., native adds the accolade to an impressive postseason résumé that already included United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team honors, MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year recognition, and All-MAC Freedom First Team laurels.
For the third straight season, Hagen was one of the most consistent presences on the pitch for the Ducks, starting at least 18 matches and surpassing 1,500 minutes played. Since the start of the 2023 season, he has appeared in 57 matches (all starts) and logged 4,959 minutes, averaging 87.5 minutes per appearance.
During the 2024 campaign, Hagen played all 90 minutes in 10 matches and helped limit opponents to one goal or fewer on 12 occasions. He also enjoyed a breakout offensive season, scoring his first collegiate goal in a win over NYU and adding another goal and two assists in conference play. Following MAC Freedom Tournament shutout victories over Misericordia and Lebanon Valley, Hagen was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player before capping his season with an assist against Brandeis in the NCAA Tournament.
