HAMPTON, Va. (January 9, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team fell to Nassau County College, 31-9, in the semifinals of the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va. on Saturday afternoon. Freshman 141-pounder Ryan Bridge earned six of the nine Stevens points with a win by fall but it was not enough as the Ducks fall to 1-3 on the season. Sophomore Joe Favia earned a decision at 165 lbs. for the other three Stevens points. In the consolation bracket, the Ducks fell to Millersville University, 24-18.
In the match against Millersville, sophomore Brad Warren earned a win by pin fall in the 125-lb. weight class, Favia earned a win by forfeit at 165, junior Vincent Termini notched a last second decision (6-4) in the 184-lb. weight class, and freshman heavyweight Brian Schmalz tallied a tough, 4-3, victory at 285.
Stevens will return to action on January 16 when it travels to Delaware Valley College. The dual is set for an 11 a.m. first bout.
