MEDFORD, Mass. (November 21, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team defeated Yeshiva College and host Tufts University on Sunday, while dropping a tough decision to Wellesley College in quad meet action. Freshman Sienna Batzli posted an unblemished 4-0 record on the day in epee to lead the Ducks.

Also at epee, sophomore Krystal Perkins and senior captain Meagan Ritter posted solid records of 5-2 and 4-4, respectively.

At sabre, junior Krista Sticco and sophomore Juliet Turalski each posted 7-2 records to lead Stevens at that weapon.

Junior Alexis Clyburn led a surprising foil squad with a 7-2 mark.

“It was nice to see foil step in and really come through for us against Tufts today,” said head coach Linda Vollkommer-Lynch. “It's too bad that we couldn't knock off Wellesley this weekend, but we are certainly making improvements with each tournament.”

The Ducks will have Thanksgiving weekend off before participating at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational on December 5, where sophomores Krystal Perkins and Juliet Turalski will defend their individual titles. The meet will be held at the Cobra Fencing Club in Jersey City, starting at 8 a.m.
