GETTYSBURG, Pa. (February 13, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team closed out its regular season with two convincing wins over Centennial Conference foes on Saturday in Gettysburg, Pa. The Ducks started the day with a 42-3 win over host Gettysburg College and closed things out with a 37-7 triumph over Johns Hopkins University. With the victories, the Ducks improve to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference. Stevens will host the 2010 Centennial Conference Championships at the Canavan Arena on Saturday, February 20.

The Ducks started strong in the opener with wins by forfeit at 125 and 133 to take a 12-0 lead. Sophomore Brad Warren and junior Kyle Brisson were credited with the wins.
Sophomore 141-pounder Ryan Bridge earned his eighth-straight win with a major decision (14-5) over sophomore Matt Danielson (Bethesda, Md.) to give Stevens a 16-0 edge, and freshman Ryan Owens pinned sophomore Michael Slabinksi (Alexandria, Va.) a little more than two minutes into their match at 149 lbs. to put the Ducks up 22-0.
Senior Charles Favia extended the lead with a major decision (10-2) over freshman Joe Fiore (Hicksville, N.Y.), and sophomore Joe Favia tallied his 21st victory of the season with a win by forfeit at 165 lbs.
Junior Bobby Bishop made it seven-straight Duck wins with a major decision at 174 lbs., and junior Vincent Termini won on overtime thriller (3-1) with junior Luke Mitchell (Garden City, N.Y.) to put Stevens up 39-0.
Senior 197-pounder Ernie Guaimano scored Stevens' final three points with a decision over freshman Marshall Puls (New York, N.Y.), but Gettysburg (3-13 overall, 2-5 Centennial) came out on top at 285 lbs. to avoid the shutout.
Stevens 37, Hopkins 7
Hopkins (4-9 overall, 2-4 Centennial) jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage thanks to a major decision at 125, but the Ducks responded quickly, winning the next seven bouts of the dual.
Brisson got a win by forfeit at 133 to give Stevens a 6-4 lead, and the Blue Jays could never recover. Bridge pushed his win-streak to nine after pinning freshman Matt Nelson (Gahanna, Ohio) 20 seconds into their bout, and Owens got his second win of the day with a 5-0 decision at 149 lbs.
Charles Favia recorded his team-high third technical fall (17-0)(7:00) of the year to put Stevens up 20-4, and Joe Favia followed with a major decision (8-0) over junior Eric Levenseller (Tabernacle, N.J.) at 165. Bishop earned his second win of the day with a 3-2 decision at 174 lbs., and Termini defeated sophomore Ben Finelli (Ambler, Pa.), 8-0, to give the Ducks a 31-4 edge after eight matches.
Freshman 197-pounder Reid Mosquera (Andover, Mass.) stopped the bleeding for Hopkins, but Stevens freshman Brian Schmalz earned the fourth win of his career for the final margin.
In total Stevens won 17-of-20 individual bouts on the day and outscored its two opponents 79-10. Brisson, Bridge, Owens, Charles Favia, Joe Favia, Bishop, and Termini all went 2-0 on the afternoon.
