Men's Tennis Sweeps Utica

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 18, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team swept visiting Utica College, 9-0, at the Stevens Tennis Courts in Hoboken, N.J. to move to 14-2 on the season and 5-1 in Empire 8 play. With the loss the Pioneers fell to 0-5 on the year with a 0-4 mark against conference opponents. The Ducks will next face Nazareth College and the Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, April 24.

Junior Jason Ringstad opened up play with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in No. 4 singles, before freshman Chris Rosensteel earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 2 singles. Stevens junior Gregory Klose then earned a 6-0, 6-0, win in No. 6 singles, while freshman Shota Tasaki scored a 6-0, 6-0, sweep in No. 1 singles. Junior Arik Zeevy put the Ducks up 5-0 with a 6-1, 6-2, win in No. 3 singles, while senior Piotr Runsinkiewicz secured a 6-0, 6-4, win in No. 5 singles.

Klose and Ringstad opened up doubles action with an 8-0 sweep in the third slot, while Rosensteel and Rusinkiewicz notched an 8-2 second-flight doubles victory. Zeevy and Tasaki closed out the day with an 8-3 triumph in top-flight doubles.
