MADISON, N.J. (September 29, 2010) – Senior Katria Misilo and juniors Kathleen Schuckers and Sarah Lehman each netted their fourth goal of the season to power the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team past Drew University, 3-2, in Madison, N.J. With the win, Stevens, ranked 20th and 23rd, respectively, in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/HendrickCars.com and D3Soccer.com polls, moved to 9-1-0 on the year, while the Rangers fell to 5-4 on the season.

The Ducks came out firing early, drawing the game's first break by winning a corner in the sixth minute. On the ensuing kick, Schuckers curled the ball into the Drew net, past sophomore goalkeeper Kim Jaikisson (Maplewood, N.J.), to stake Stevens to a 1-0 advantage on just the Ducks' second shot of the contest.

After a Mary Chew shot again tested Jaikisson in the 11th minute, Lehman tallied her fourth marker of the season to give the Ducks a two-goal edge, tracking down a loose ball inside the Rangers' 18-yard box before slipping it into the right corner of the net at the 19:40 mark.

Just over 10 minutes later, freshman Caitlyn Labonte again put a Stevens' shot on net, but Jaikisson made the save to keep Drew within striking distance heading into the break.

Hoping to climb back into the match, Drew recorded its first shot of the afternoon against a stingy Ducks backline in the first minute of the second, drawing a corner-kick. Sophomore midfielder Courtney Carnevale (West Windsor, N.J.) then pulled the Rangers within one, heading in a score off the ensuing Caroline Kuras (Allamunchy, N.J.) corner, placing the ball into the right side of the Stevens net.

The Ducks quickly responded by firing the match's next three shots, culminating in senior Katria Misilo's fourth tally of the season which put Stevens up 3-1 in the 62nd minute, by tucking a Gia Gonzales corner inside the back-post.

Trying to pull back within one, Drew began to push forward, firing five shots over the next eight minutes of action, but Ducks' sophomore goalkeeper Teegan Kelly came up big, recording a couple of saves on a pair of Rangers' shots-on-goal.

With time winding down, Drew got a much-needed goal, when junior forward Emily Weida (Lancaster, Pa.) got to a loose ball in front of the Duck net before putting it away in the 87th minute, but Misilo's marker proved to be the difference with the Rangers unable to find an equalizer over the last few minutes following the kick-off.

The Ducks finished with slim 13-12 shot advantage and a 5-4 edge in corners. Stevens will host Empire 8 rival Rochester Institute of Technology in its annual Alumnae match on Saturday, October 2.
