VERONA, N.Y. (October 1, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology lost just seven total games on Saturday as they dominated Utica College 9-0. Alexandra Handel, Elena Cocineva-Lenge and Caroline Niezelski each swept through their singles matches, and the team of Nicole Portner and Mine Bese also had a clean sheet at second doubles.
Saturday's matches were held at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino due to the weather in upstate New York. This is the fourth-straight 9-0 decision for Stevens, which is an aggregate 51-3 on the year in dual matches.
Jessica Bourque and Lisa Tessitore won at first doubles 8-1, while Portner and Bese completed their sweep at second doubles.
At singles, Tessitore took over first singles and won in straight sets. The other singles matches that were contested were all Stevens 6-0, 6-0 sweeps, with Elena Cocineva-Lenge and Caroline Niezelski looking strong in their first dual match action of the year.
The Ducks will be back in action in less than 24 hours, travelling to Hartwick College on Sunday for a high noon showdown.
