Women's Volleyball Drops Final Two Matches of Regular Season

NEW LONDON, Conn. (October 29, 2011) – In the final two matches of the regular season before next weekend's Empire 8 Conference tournament, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team dropped both matches against Tufts University and Connecticut College on October 29. The Ducks fell to Tufts, 3-1, in their first match and then was on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision to Conn. College.

Over the two matches, junior Maggie Kowalska (Edison, N.J.) led Stevens with 25 kills and 17 digs, while sophomore Chrissy Dickinson (Issaquah, Wash.) recorded a team-best five service aces to go along with 18 kills.

Senior Kate Janes (Warwick, N.Y.) paced the Ducks with six total blocks while chipping in nine kills and eight digs.

Stevens' sophomores Hannah Gasper (Bourne, Mass.) and Mary Caulson (West Islip, N.Y.) each posted double-digit dig efforts with 15 and 13, respectively. Caulson also added 12 kills.

The Ducks are now 15-22 on the season and will travel to Elmira College for the Empire 8 tournament on November 5 and 6. Stevens is the No. 3 seed and will play Nazareth College at 3:30 p.m. on the 5th. The winner of that match with play Elmira or St. John Fisher College at 1 p.m. for the championship.
