Doubles Sweep Keys Men's Tennis Victory Over ITA Northeast Region No. 16 Rochester

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 10, 2011) – For the second time in two days, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team upended a regionally-ranked Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Region opponent, defeating No. 16 University of Rochester at the Stevens Tennis Courts in Hoboken, N.J. With the win, the Ducks, currently ranked 12th in the ITA's Northeast Region, improved to 7-4 overall on the year, while the Yellowjackets fell to 13-3 on the season.

Hoping to get the Ducks' off to a fast start, seniors Jason Ringstad and Arik Zeevy defeated Rochester's Matt Volkow (Bethesda, Md.) and Jeff Zink (Wilmington, Del.) 8-4 at second doubles. Stevens' Lopburi Sasinin and Jay Lee then downed Daniel Barbash (Old Tappan, N.J.) and John Etter Lewis (Rochester, N.Y.) 8-6 in the third slot, before sophomore Chris Rosensteel and Shota Tasaki completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 triumph in the top spot.

Zeevy would keep things rolling for the Ducks in singles action, shutting out Joel Allen (Rochester, N.Y.) 6-0, 6-0, at second singles before Zink recorded Rochester's lone win of the day by defeating Tasaki 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Ringstad got Stevens back on track with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Brian Rice (Syracuse, N.Y.) at fourth singles, while Lee outlasted Barbash 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) at No. 5 singles. Sasinin then registered a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 comeback win over Volkov in the sixth slot, before Rosensteel capped off the day with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Boris Borovcanin (Williamsville, N.Y.) at first singles.
