MORRISTOWN, N.J. (April 16, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team, ranked 12th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Region poll, captured its sixth-consecutive victory with an 8-1 win over Empire 8 rival Nazareth College at the Twin Oaks Tennis Club in Morristown, N.J. With the win, the Ducks improved to 8-4 overall on the year with an unblemished 3-0 league ledger, while the Golden Flyers fell to 8-9 on the year with a 5-2 mark against conference opponents.
Stevens sophomores Chris Rosensteel and Shota Tasaki got the Ducks off to a fast start, earning an 8-0 sweep of Nazareth's Ryan McCormick (Rochester, N.Y.) and Bret Beaver (Hudson, Ohio) at first doubles. Seniors Arik Zeevy and Jason Ringstad kept things rolling with an 8-3 triumph over Adam Landry (Macedon, N.Y.) and Jeremy Mancus (Irvington, N.Y.) in the second slot. The Ducks' Lopburi Sasinin and Jay Lee capped off the doubles sweep with an 8-2 triumph at third doubles.
Zeevy headlined Stevens' singles lineup with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over McCormick, while Tasaki defeated Beaver 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Ringstad upended Mancus 6-2, 6-2 at third singles, while Landry scored Nazareth's lone win of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win at fourth singles. Sasinin and senior Carlo Pardo capped off the Ducks' day with wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Stevens returns to action on Sunday, April 17 against Rochester Institute of Technology.
