COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (January 7, 2012) - At the North/South Duals in Collegeville, Pa. hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, January 7, the nationally-ranked No. 20 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team posted a 1-3 mark. The Ducks topped Wesleyan College, 26-12, before dropping their three other matches which included two top-15 teams.

In the three setbacks on the afternoon, Stevens fell to York College (Pa.), 29-12, No.14 Wilkes University, 32-6, and No. 8 SUNY Cortland, 30-6.

Junior Joey Favia (Brick, N.J.) led the way for Stevens, going a perfect 4-0 in his duals at 165-lbs.

Three other Stevens wrestlers posted perfect marks but did not participate in each match. Junior Ryan Dormann (Mickleton, N.J.) and sophomore Alex Moreno (Tenafly, N.J.) each went 2-0 in their respective weight classes at 174 and 184, while freshman Mike Polizzi (Montville, N.J.) won his lone dual at 133.

The final top performer for the Ducks was freshman Jake Odell (South Windsor, Conn.), who posted a 2-1 ledger at 157.

"We knew this would be a tough test for our guys, said Head Coach Mike Clayton (Jersey City, N.J.). While we had some guys wrestle well, we didn't do what we needed to today to step it up a level. The experience was great for all our guys and we will learn a lot from the day."

Stevens returns to the mats next weekend, January 14, when it travels to Mount Vernon, Iowa to take part in the Matman Invitational hosted by Cornell College. The Ducks will once again face off against some of the best wrestling schools in the nation.
