MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 12, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis program lost to the Florida Institute of Technology by a final score of 7-2 in their first action of Spring Break. The Ducks' Shota Tasaki (Greenwich, Conn.) and Andrew Riggs (Auburn, Calif.) won at second and third singles to score the team's wins.

The Panthers are ranked 47th nationally and own a 6-6 record, while the Ducks fell to 0-3 on the year.

Both Tasaki and Riggs won in straight sets. Tasaki won (7-5, 6-2) and Riggs was dominant with a (6-2, 6-1) final.

Derek Smith (Boise, Idaho) took his sixth singles matchup past two sets before falling (6-7, 6-2, 10-3). His was the only matchup to go past two sets.

Stevens will be right back in action tomorrow, when they will take on St. Lawrence University at 3 p.m. in Orlando.
