ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 14, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team swept Nazareth College 9-0 on Saturday afternoon to kick off the penultimate Empire 8 weekend of the season. Shota Tasaki (Greenwich, Conn.), Andrew Riggs (Auburn, Calif.) and Derek Smith (Boise, Idaho) each won their singles matchups in straight sets to lead the Ducks.

Tasaki won the most lopsided match of the day 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. Riggs and Smith dropped just two games at thirds and sixes, respectively.

Chris Rosensteel (East Windsor, N.J.), Nicholas Rosasco (Alpine, N.J.) and Daniel Szwarc (Metuchen, N.J.) each had to go into tiebreakers but were able to pull out singles victories as well.

The doubles pairs of Rosensteel/Tasaki, Riggs/Rosasco and Smith/Szwarc swept as well. The junior first doubles pair won 8-1 and Smith and Szwarc gave up just two games to the Golden Flyers.

Stevens will be back in action for two Empire 8 matches tomorrow. The Ducks will play Ithaca College at 9 a.m. before playing Elmira College at 2 p.m.
