ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 15, 2012) – Already undefeated in the Empire 8, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's team pulled ahead of the second place team by two matches with two left to play as the Ducks swept Ithaca and Elmira Colleges on Sunday. Stevens won 7-2 against the Bombers and did not drop a single decision against the Soaring Eagles.

First singles and doubles player Chris Rosensteel (East Windsor, N.J.) led Stevens as he won all four matches he was a part of on Sunday. He outlasted Jimmy Newton (Englewood, Fla.) of Ithaca 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 , quickly won the Elmira singles match and teamed with classmate Shota Tasaki (Greenwich, Conn.) to win both doubles matches handily.

Tasaki, Andrew Riggs (Auburn, Calif.) and Nicholas Rosasco (Alpine, N.J.) were each also undefeated on Sunday. Riggs and Rosasco were second doubles partners and dropped a total of just five games.

Against Elmira, each singles match was over in straight sets and the most competitive was a 6-4, 6-1 victory by Brian Liebeskind (Basking Ridge, N.J.) at sixes.

One more victory by Stevens will clinch the Empire 8 regular season title and the first seed in the league's tournament.

Stevens will play next at Vassar College on April 18 at 4 p.m.
