EWING, N.J. (April 25, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team lost a tight 5-4 matchup with the College of New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon at the TCNJ Tennis Complex. The Ducks won all the top matches but the Lions (11-3) were able to squeak by with victories at fourth, fifth and sixth singles and second and third doubles.

Chris Rosensteel (East Windsor, N.J.) had an exceptional day, winning 6-2, 6-1 at first singles and pairing with Shota Tasaki (Greenwich, Conn.) to for a relatively easy 8-2 first doubles victory.
Tasaki himself won a what was to be the largest victory for a Duck on Wednesday; 6-0, 6-2 at third singles.

Andrew Riggs (Auburn, Calif.) also continued to play well, winning the only singles matchup to go past two sets in a rousing 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory at second singles.

The Lions were equally as good in the second half of the singles bracket, gaining three wins there as the teams split singles 3-3.

Stevens had perhaps its best chance for a match victory in second doubles, where Steven Fernandez West Windsor, N.J.) and TJ Riley (Moorestown, N.J.) of TCNJ grinded out an 8-5 win over Riggs and Derek Smith (Boise, Idaho) in what would prove to be the Ducks' best chance of scoring the upset.

This was the final regular season contest for both sides, and TCNJ will head to the postseason ranked No. 12 in the Northeast region and on a six-match winning streak.

The Ducks will be the top seed when the Empire 8 Championship is conducted beginning on May 5 in Ithaca, N.Y.
