MADISON, N.J. (September 12, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis program overwhelmed Drew University 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon, with a doubles sweep setting the tone for the afternoon.
Jessica Bourque (Houma, La.) lost just two combined games at both first singles and doubles to lead the Ducks.
Bourque and
Lisa Tessitore (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) won a first dubs 8-1. Underclassmen
Danielle Stewart (North Plainfield, N.J.) and
Julia Guignard (Lowville, N.Y.) recorded an 8-3 victory at twos and
Victoria Tran (South Plainfield, N.J.) and
Nathalie Tran (Livingston, N.J.) combined for an 8-2 win at threes.
Continuing her blistering pace, Bourque took down her opponent at first singles 6-1, 6-0. Tessitore, Stewart, Guignard, and
Nathalie Tran also each won in straight sets.
The Ducks will be back in action this Saturday against St. John Fisher College. It is the home opener for Stevens and will also be the team's Duck Country event. Free sunglasses will be given out before the start of doubles play at 12 p.m.
