ITHACA, N.Y. (October 26, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 Empire 8 Conference matchup with No. 5 Ithaca College on Saturday in cold and windy conditions at Ithaca's Carp Wood Field. With the loss, Stevens is now 8-8 overall and 4-2 in the Empire 8, while Ithaca improves to 14-1 and 6-0 in the conference.

The Bombers notched their game-winning goal just into the 18th minute off a free kick from Anna Gray to Ellyn Grant-Keane. Gray set up her service into the 18-yard box from 30 yards out and found Grant-Keane for a clear shot on goal.

Just over 14 minutes later, Kelsey King won a loose ball in front of the Ducks' net and scored over the outstretched arms of sophomore goalkeeper Evelyn Ting (Gaithersburg, Md.) to put the Bombers ahead, 2-0, heading into halftime.

Ithaca came out of the break eager to score again, however, Ting and the Stevens defense tightened up in the first six minutes of the half and denied three shots within a 15-second span to keep the match at a 2-0 difference. Ting stopped the first shot and the rebound was turned away by the Stevens defense. The Bombers corralled that second rebound, but Ting was there once again with a save to account for nine on the afternoon in nearly 75 minutes of action.

Two minutes after the opening barrage, Ithaca came right back down the field and put its third goal in for the contest, this time from Jessica Warren. King sent a short cross through the box to find Warren waiting to score her first goal on the season.

After a goalkeeper change by Stevens, sophomore Leah Spaulding (San Pedro, Calif.) replaced Ting, Ithaca picked up its final goal on the match in the 77th minute. Spaulding would make one save in the final 15:04.

Stevens took 10 shots in the contest but half of those were saved by the goalkeeping tandem of Beth Coppolecchia and Becca Lewis. Ithaca fired off 26 shots overall and took six corners, to just two for the Ducks.

Stevens heads to Western Connecticut State University on Halloween for a 7 p.m. showdown in Danbury, Conn. The Ducks will then return for Senior Day against Elmira College at 12 p.m. on November 2.
