NEW YORK, N.Y. (December 6, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in road matches with a 23-4 rout of Hunter College Friday night.
The Stevens epee team shined, going undefeated at 9-0. All-time wins leader and newly minted member of the 200-win club
Briana Nieradka went 3-0 as did sophomore
Deanna Quackenbush. Junior
Rebecca Merrick was 2-0, while junior
Sienna Batzli earned a win in her lone bout.
In foil action the Ducks were led by junior
Taia Harrison who went 3-0, sophomore
Caroleen Chen who also was 3-0 and senior
Laura Cerrito. Cerrito tallied a victory in her only bout as the foil squad won, 8-1.
In sabre, the Ducks went six up and three down as senior
Clara Luneke and sophomore
Zoe To went undefeated, going 3-0 and 1-0, respectively. Sophomore
Jenny Drozd finished 2-1 in a solid performance for the Ducks.
Stevens will return to action at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational Sunday.
